In the first half of my life I raised a daughter while “raising” my parents. I jokingly say “I only had one child because many times I felt like I had three.” Most of that time I felt like I was the only one who had any common sense and stable way of looking at life. I would learn later that not only was I an old soul, but I was different from the family I grew up in because I was adopted.
Despite all the turmoil of my early years, I managed to maintain a healthy marriage and raised a brilliant, compassionate daughter with two kids of her own; without inflicting the same traumas on her as I experienced. I realized this was necessary as part of my journey as I moved on to the new chapter of my life, where I am now.
I have spent the last 10+ years healing from my childhood and young adult traumas, living a more creative authentic life, as I also heal my body from 50 years of high stress and PTSD.
I’m Debra Lynn Hanes, PhD, but you can call me Dr. Deb. I am a seeker, shiner of light on what tends to be hidden, unseen and unnoticed; a long-time journal writer, and “spiritual anthropologist” always diving deep into my abyss for self-inquiry.
I have a PhD in Metaphysical Humanism and am ordained as a Metaphysical Humanism Minister; focusing on Spiritual Counseling/Coaching. I am also a Reiki Master/Teacher, Intuitive Artist, and Trance Channel. I take the journey to mine the stories that make up our experiences in life, for creative, spiritual, and psychological growth; which assists in the recovery from challenges and traumas.
My greatest joy is in helping other women get unstuck and reach their goals. In our work together, we dive deeper into how they operate, as they become their own "anthropologists", to break the wheel of old patterns of behavior while setting up new ones.
It is my experiences, how I resolved the traumas and pain by turning inward and listening to my inner knowing, that I learned that forgiveness and compassion fuels my heart-filled desire to work with other women; guiding them in transforming their stories of being stuck and in "pain" into new stories of possibilities in order to reclaim their power and bring their unique greatness to the world.
I now live in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois with my husband and three cats in a home we built together, and that came from my imagination with a studio to work in. I know I have been blessed with many coaches and teachers that have guided and supported me. They have helped to make me the coach, teacher, and healer that I am today.
A few of the teachers and coaches I am grateful to are: Michael and Raphaelle Tamura, Michelle Bersell, Nicole Donovan-Wells, Diana Kushenbach, Maestra Shiloh Sophia, Dr Doug Kelley and Dr. Vicki Hunter; for opening the door for me and supporting me on my journey.
My hope is to do the same for you, as others have done for me.
Love, Blessings, and Golden Light to you.
